âI canât get any closer to the Presidential Mansion,â Denise said.
Amos asked, âHow close were you able to get?â
âThe property perimeter fence is about 200 meters away. I can sense some serious metaphysical defenses in place. I donât want to trip them in case they trigger a potentially fatal response.â
âAbsolutely not, Denise! Keep your distance. Can you see any details on the property?â
âPlenty. There are four of the large railguns like ours and six of the smaller kind. There arenât any fixed positions, though, all mobile. Two rocket or missile launchers. Whatâs the difference?â
âMissile launchers can handle only one missile at a time. Rocket launchers can handle multiple rockets.â
âOkay. Two missile launchers, both with missiles on their platforms. Three rocket launchers, one appears to be ready to launch, and the other two are being prepared. You asked about satellite or radar dishes. There is an enormous dish on the roof, like ours. Thereâs also a truck-mounted dish, smaller, and what looks like a large flat plate that is scanning back and forth.â
âThatâs a battlefield radar. Itâs bad news for ground attack forces, but not much to worry about for our purposes. Is there anything else?â
âThere are a bunch of trucks behind the mansion, all parked close to some bunkers, and men moving rolling carts of ammunition.â
âBingo! Come on back, Denise. Thatâs exactly what we need.â
§ § §
âDenise, this is Davey Charles, our Intelligence Coordinator. Show him where everything you saw is on this map of the Presidential Compound. Davey, as soon as youâve got coordinates, upload them to Perimeter Security.â
âGot it, Boss! Okay, Ms. Denise, tell me what you saw. If you canât describe it, draw a picture, and Iâll try to match it to pictures of existing equipment.â
§ § §
âMr. Hardy, Iâve found the bombers and the nuclear weapons bunker.â
âHow many bombers, Stacy?â
âSixteen, four in each of three hangars, plus four parked outside another hangar. That hangar has its doors open, and men and women are working on all four planes. One bomber is being loaded with weapons right now.â
âOkay. Now tell me about the weapons bunker.â
âIt is really close to the bomber hangars, and its doors are wide open. There are people inside loading carts with weapons.â
Amos widened his eyes and glanced at Daniel. âDumbasses. Bunker doors should always be closed until itâs time to enter or exit the bunker, then closed immediately to prevent what Iâm about to do.â A crooked grin crossed his face. âOkay, Stacy, come on back. Iâll need you to point out the locations on our map. Then you can rest for a while. Denise has returned, and you two can share some snacks.â
âRoger.â
§ § §
âAir Controller, do you have the locations in Colorado Springs?â
âYeah, Boss. Uploaded to our ground attack wing. They have standoff weapons, so theyâll be far outside the airfieldâs defensive perimeter. Six missiles for the bunker, twelve for the three hangars, and six for the four bombers out in the open.â
âOutstanding. As soon as they are in position, launch the attack.
